General Manager, The Matchup
Kevin Lockland joined the Local Media Consortium in October 2020. As GM of The Matchup, Kevin is responsible for the overall success of The Matchup, a collaborative online sports platform, providing fans with coast-to-coast access to high quality, locally produced sports stories, while giving local media organizations a means to engage and broaden their audience and generate revenue.
Kevin Lockland is an experienced digital media product and editorial leader who develops and grows popular new product, content and programming strategies for media companies. Kevin served VP of Editorial and General Manager of SB Nation for eight years,, where grew SB Nation into one of the top five digital sports brands in the US and in the process helped Vox Media emerge as a leading digital-first media company. He served in various product and editorial leadership roles at AOL, including Vice President and General Manager of AOL’s sports properties overseeing the flagship Fanhouse.com site, as well as AOL's Fantasy sports and MMA brand, MMAFighting.com. Prior to joining the LMC, Kevin was Senior Partner at QCatalyst, a digital media consultancy, providing digital innovation strategy and product engineering services. As an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, for eight years, he taught a Digital & Social Media Strategy class for Georgetown University’s Sports Industry Management program.
Kevin lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife and two daughters. Kevin enjoys playing hockey, cooking, traveling, and of course, attending and watching sporting events of all kinds.
