Chris Cornell joined The Matchup and the Local Media Consortium in February 2021. He oversees content strategy, packaging and distribution, as well as the development of The Matchup's voice and editorial direction. He is focused on broadening the scope and depth of the content offering within LMC's partner network, thereby growing audience engagement and aiding with retention.
Chris has over 15 years' experience in the sports media industry. He launched his career in local media with the Orlando Sentinel, working on the paper's award-winning sports desk. He got his start in digital media with Bleacher Report, aiding the company's rapid rise as a leader on their programming team. He initiated B/R's editorial and programming partnerships with CNN and Apple News and was instrumental to the marketing of the B/R Mag. He's since held managerial roles with TuneIn, fostering their sports audio partnerships, and The Athletic, where he helped build the company's first programming team.
Chris currently resides with his wife and dog in Southern California. He's previously called Illinois, Florida and San Francisco home. He's most passionate about MLB and NBA. He enjoys nature hikes, reading, making and listening to music, cooking and traveling.
