Board Approves Two New Staff Positions to Serve Member, Partner Growth
Sarasota, Fla. – May 11, 2017 – The Local Media Consortium (LMC), a strategic partnership of leading local media companies, today announced the appointment of Raleigh, N.C-based Jenny Brown as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Buffalo, NY-based Emily Lowrey as Content Champion. These two full-time positions have been created to help the LMC further its ability to help members and partners utilize the latest technologies and partnerships to further growth in the digital age.

In her role as CFO, Brown will work closely with the executive team to plan, direct and coordinate financial activities, generate client and partner reports, weigh in on short- and long-term financial planning, and serve as an advisor on policies and procedures to maximize returns on investment.
Brown has spent the last 21 years on the forefront of digital accounting, having served a majority of that time as the VP, Finance & CFO of McClatchy’s Interactive division. She was a pioneer in the early days of digital revenue accountancy, and worked with Deloitte on the process of auditing online advertising. She also played a key role in the transition of Knight Ridder Digital into the McClatchy fold post acquisition. More recently, she led a team of eight corporate digital accountants and a team of six digital revenue support members. Under Brown’s guidance and leadership, the accounting team has achieved eight no comment audits. Additionally, Brown has provided professional accounting services to the LMC since 2012. She hails from Garner, NC, where she studied business and finance at NC Wesleyan College. She currently resides in Clayton, NC.
Emily Lowrey, Content Champion
As Content Champion, Lowrey will oversee the LMC’s content initiatives and partnerships, both internal and external, across multiple platforms and formats to drive sales, engagement, retention, leads and positive customer behavior. She’ll identify partners and platforms that enhance news and content delivery, distribution and consumption. Lowrey will also provide guidance on best practices regarding the use of content platforms, workflows and monetization, and serve as liaison between members and partners.
Lowrey has spent her career helping newspapers and news startups develop and execute transformational digital strategies. She was previously the Director of Digital at The Buffalo News, where she led the company’s development and support, ad trafficking, digital sales and Buffalo.com content teams. Prior to that, she was the Director of Digital Classifieds at GateHouse Media, where she was responsible for the auto, real estate and employment verticals, and the video and directory categories of business. Lowrey was also co-founder of Magic City Post and founder of ShopBirmingham.com.
She is a 2011 graduate of the University at Buffalo’s Executive MBA program, where she studied culture’s impact on innovation at newspapers throughout Sweden and in Beijing and Shanghai, China. She currently lives in Buffalo, NY.
